Check in to your accommodation in Kranjska Gora, a charming alpine town nestled at the foot of the Julian Alps. Settle into the serene pace of mountain life. The evening is free to explore the town, stroll along the Pišnica River, or simply relax before the adventures ahead.
After breakfast, step outside your accommodation and begin today’s adventure directly from Kranjska Gora. Follow the gentle gravel path along the crystal-clear Pišnica River, passing the emerald waters of Lake Jasna with its iconic bronze ibex statue. The trail leads into the heart of the Krnica Valley, a peaceful alpine corridor surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Julian Alps. Continue to a welcoming mountain hut set in a forest clearing beneath the towering walls of Prisojnik, Razor, and the Martuljek mountains. After refreshments, follow the trail upward through the forest, ascending toward the historic Russian Chapel. This wooden chapel, dedicated to St. Vladimir, was built in 1917 by Russian prisoners of war who perished while constructing the road over Vršič Pass. From here, enjoy panoramic views before descending back to Kranjska Gora for a free evening.
Begin today’s adventure with a short transfer just across the Italian border. Explore the Fusine Lakes, a pair of glacial jewels tucked beneath the jagged walls of Mangart on the Italian-Slovenian border. Follow a forest trail and climb steadily through the ancient Tarvisio Forest, rich with beech and fir trees, toward a welcoming mountain hut perched high above the valley. After refreshments on the terrace with its magnificent views of the Ponze peaks, descend along a panoramic route offering constant views of the Julian Alps. The path loops around both lakes, Lago Superiore and Lago Inferiore, each reflecting the mountains in perfect stillness. The turquoise waters, framed by the majestic amphitheatre of the Mangart massif, create a scene of unforgettable beauty before closing the circuit at the starting point.
After breakfast, transfer to a high mountain pasture serving as your starting point for today’s alpine adventure. Begin the ascent through fragrant pine forests and open meadows, climbing steadily along a well-marked trail. The path rises through changing alpine vegetation as you gain elevation, with views of the surrounding Julian Alps gradually revealing themselves. Continue the steady climb across rocky alpine terrain toward the summit of Viševnik (2,050m), where spectacular 360-degree views reward your efforts. The Triglav massif, Slovenia’s highest peak and national symbol, dominates the horizon, Lake Bohinj sparkles in the valley below and countless peaks stretch in every direction. After soaking in the summit atmosphere, begin the circular descent traversing dramatic alpine scenery. Stop at Bled Lodge at Lipanca for a well-deserved lunch in a traditional mountain hut setting. Continue the loop back to the starting point, then transfer back to Kranjska Gora.
Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation, savouring your final moments in this alpine paradise. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a morning stroll through Kranjska Gora or a last visit to Lake Jasna.
