Move at your own pace - with routes, maps, and logistics all organized for a worry-free self-guided adventure

Traverse three countries in one seamless route: the green heart of Slovenia’s alpine valleys, mountain trails of Triglav National Park, Italia’s tranquil lakes, and sunlit shores of Croatia’s island coastal paths

Arrive at Ljubljana Airport, collect your rental car, and set off into the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. Soon, Logar Valley reveals itself in dramatic fashion – a long, glacial corridor lined with towering cliffs and alpine pastures. Check in to your accommodation and enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by natural beauty.
After breakfast, head into the peaceful rhythm of alpine life. Your walking route follows a charming riverside path through meadows and traditional farms, with the mountains gradually rising around you as you move deeper into the valley – all the way to a graceful waterfall hidden beneath steep cliffs. Return the same scenic way, with wide-open views guiding you back toward the valley entrance.
After breakfast, drive toward the northern edge of Slovenia where borders begin to blur. Your trail leads through quiet forest and alpine pastures, gradually gaining height until the world opens around you. At the grassy summit, a simple monument marks a remarkable spot – stand here and you are in Slovenia, Italy, and Austria all at once. Enjoy the wide views stretching across three countries, a reminder of how mountains connect what borders separate. Descend and continue to Kranjska Gora, your alpine base for the next few days.
Begin today’s adventure with a short transfer just across the Italian border. Explore the Fusine Lakes, a pair of glacial jewels tucked beneath the jagged walls of Julian Alps on the Italian-Slovenian border. Follow a forest trail before climbing steadily toward a welcoming mountain hut perched high above the valley. After refreshment, descend along a panoramic route offering constant views of the alpine surroundings. Enjoy the final stroll around Fusine Lakes, each reflecting the mountains in perfect stillness.
After breakfast, drive to the trailhead and follow a forest track to a scenic mountain hut, the perfect spot for a coffee break. Today, the trail leads into high meadows and rugged limestone ridges to one of the Alpine summits. On top, soak in sweeping views of the Julian Alps, including the majestic Mount Triglav standing tall in the distance. On your descent, you may wish to stop by the hut for a leisurely lunch before returning to the valley and drive back to your accommodation.
Drive south as the landscapes soften into the karst uplands of Istria, a region known for its pale limestone hills and peaceful, pastoral scenery. Your hiking route gently crosses the invisible line between Slovenia and Croatia, with wide views opening over rolling hills and the distant shimmer of the Adriatic. Reach the highest point of the day, a perfect spot for a relaxed picnic in the sunshine, before looping back to the trailhead. After the hike, continue to the coast and settle into the Opatija Riviera.
A short drive takes you across the bridge to Krk Island, where rugged trails reveal the island’s wild side. Walk along panoramic paths with sweeping sea views. A picture-perfect viewpoint awaits, cliffs dropping steeply into a hidden bay, with water so intensely blue it feels unreal. Continue down to a remote pebble beach, a perfect place for a refreshing swim or a cold drink by the sea before returning to Opatija for your final evening.
Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your accommodation. Drive back to Ljubljana Airport, where you’ll return your rental car and begin your journey home, taking with you the memory of summits, valleys, borders, and sea.
